The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as they say; and those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
In the remembrance and discussion of Jonestown, the religious aspects of the People's Temple cult are often emphasized to the oversight of the socialist/communist ideology and agenda for which the religion was a front.
Jim Jones was not a Christian, and the People's Temple was not a Christian organization, but rather a socialist-communist cult that wore a facade of cherry-picked and distorted Christian teachings to gain followers and promote its Progressive message.

Eerily similar to the cult of the Kim family in socialist North Korea (which also drew inspiration from Christianity), the god of the People's Temple was Jim Jones himself, and its gospel was the gospel of humanism and socialism. The parallels between how the People's Temple and later Jonestown operated and the DPRK are conspicuous and disturbing. Their common thread: Socialism, and the psychopathic, narcissistic individuals that love it and gravitate toward it as a means of gaining power and glory for themselves.
